Python Support Engineer

Role Description

Unlike a traditional software development position focused solely on building new products, this role combines software engineering with internal technical support. You will work closely with operations, compliance, payments, customer support, and business teams to help them use our systems effectively, investigate issues, automate workflows, and develop tools that improve efficiency across the company.

You will also participate in the development and maintenance of our internal platforms and services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for internal teams.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to internal systems, APIs, and data flows.
  • Develop and maintain internal tools, automations, and integrations.
  • Contribute to backend application development using Python and Django.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs.
  • Monitor system performance and help identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business teams to deliver solutions efficiently.
  • Document processes, technical solutions, and troubleshooting procedures.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in software engineering or a related technical role.
  • Strong knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and web services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • Advanced to proficient English (written and spoken).
  • Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, or support tooling.
  • A proactive and service-oriented mindset.
  • Someone who enjoys helping colleagues solve problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ownership of tasks.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and business processes.
  • Ability to balance support activities with development work.

Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills for Python-based applications and APIs.
  • Experience in customer support and customer service, including handling technical inquiries in a clear, professional, and empathetic manner.
  • Solid understanding of operating systems (Linux/Unix preferred), including basic networking, processes, and permissions.
  • Proficiency in Python, including scripting, debugging, and working with virtual environments and common libraries.
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL or NoSQL), RESTful services, and common development tools (Git, issue trackers, CI/CD).
  • Ability to analyze logs and metrics using monitoring and observability tools to identify root causes and patterns.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages relevant to the region are an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience in fintech, banking, or payment systems support is a strong plus.
